Whangaparāoa - Gulf Harbour and final goodbyes

As expected the wind backed overnight and our slightly choppy anchorage become glassy calm, the morning sun reflecting and warming us for our morning swim. We were inundated with a massive flock of shearwaters, easily over a thousand birds, diving and paddling on the surface around the boat apparently unfased by our presence. We left the peaceful anchorage soon after breakfast and headed for Gulf Harbour, Pearl taking her usual seat above the anchor, feet dangling over the side and arms wrapped around the pulpit. We drank coffee and tea and were slightly subdued knowing this to be our last sail together on this trip. Mick expertly guided Te Kaihōpara into her berth and then with bags packed the crew were on the pontoon for a final farewell.
