Aboriginal Caves

We awoke to a rainy morning and had a great breakfast of pancakes, fruit, maple syrup, yoghurt and Nespresso Coffee. It was nice to wake up in a dead calm anchorage after a great nights sleep.

Salt Lines arrived around 8:30am after opting to spend the prior night at Tongue Bay. We hatched a plan to head further up the inlet by RIB and climbed the well carved track to Aboriginal Caves dating back hundreds of years.

An self-play audio guide for the area, enabled us to play and listen some fairly harrowing stories about life in Australia in the 1950’5. It was really cool to visit the Aboriginal Caves and read about of the history of the area.

We headed to Salt Lines for a combined crew, morning tea onboard and I had the chance to spend time with Phil and iron out some auto-pilot set up issues.

We departed around 1pm for an overnight sail 135nm to Magnetic Island. With the breeze 15-25 knots once again from the SE, we headed off downwind for another sleigh ride north.
