Swanning around Sydney
Greetings, fellow adventurers! Chief Mate Jess here, ready to spill the deets from our recent harbour rendezvous in the vibrant city of Sydney.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, we sailed into Sydney Harbour around 8:30 pm, gracefully tying up to Pirrama Park Wharf for a night of well-deserved rest. The city lights put on a twinkling spectacle, beckoning us to explore the wonders that Sydney had to offer over the next two nights.
Our early risers – Ian, Kevin, and Sandie, wasted no time diving into the city's offerings at the crack of dawn. Meanwhile, those of us who preferred a slower start enjoyed a hearty breakfast cooked on the public BBQ, courtesy of our Kiwi BBQ maestro, Marcel. Because, let's be honest, who better to trust with a BBQ than a Kiwi?
With our bellies full, Boss Man Matt gave me the go ahead to explore the city. No need to tell me twice! Off I went, leaving any notion of waiting behind. Sydney, here I come!
To the Sydney Opera House I headed as a few people ahead of me headed in the same direction we decided to meet for lunch and see if we could spot Sandie at the top of the bridge on her bridge walk tour.
Kathryn and Marcel were given a guided walking tour from Roy on the way to the Opera House while Darren and myself decided to take the easy option of jumping on electric bikes to get there. Because why break a sweat when you’re on holiday?
Lunch was a nautical affair, with a picturesque waterfront setting and a chance to spot Sandie conquering the heights of the Sydney Harbour Bridge on her bridge walk tour.
The day continued with a water taxi ride back to our floating abode, where we tackled a few tasks before joining forces with the Silver Fern crew for a joint dinner. Laughter echoed across the harbor as we swapped tales from our seafaring journey, bidding a fond farewell to those disembarking in Sydney.
As the sun peeked over the horizon the next morning, we bid adieu to Sydney, setting sail for our final leg to close the loop on our maritime escapade. The journey might be coming to an end, but the memories made in Sydney and those countless stops before will forever linger.
See you at the end!
Jess :)
