Champagne Sailing

We arose early and motored over to Naru Bay to meet up with the Silver Fern crew and check out the aboriginal caves. While everyone loitered on the beach Peter took the opportunity to make us all feel guilty by swimming some laps up and down the bay.

My tender is bigger than yours

We headed back to the boat to have some morning tea with our fellow Silver Fern crew, swapping tales from the previous few days. Kurt and Keryn started eyeing up our galley stores to see what they could take back to Silver Fern with them.

They supposedly only wanted salt and onions but I kept a close eye on them to make they weren’t taking any of our closely coveted packets of chips. They had nothing to barter for but I figured what goes around comes around and I’m sure they will be more than happy to ‘lend’ us one of their pork roasts we’ve heard so much about.

After morning tea we then had lunch(I’m unsure what happened in between eating and more eating……). My well meaning question during lunch of ‘has everybody taken their meds?’ was not taken so well by the rest of the crew! Expecting another sail through an uncomfortable swell, I was merely looking out for their best interests. As we set sail for Magnetic Island the sun decided to show itself, and with the swell nicely rolling directly behind us, we finally got that champagne sailing we’d been hoping for. To my delight as I tried to sleep that night, I no longer had to cling to my bunk like spider man trying to scale a high rise building.

Walk up to the cave

Who will win the competition tomorrow for guessing the correct arrival time at Horseshoe Bay? Will someone have to shout me those hot chips from the pub I’ve been thinking about for days or will the winnings be taken by someone else?

Tune in tomorrow to find out!
